Senior Pastor Appointment

Announcement From The Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee

 

The Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC) would like to share the news recently received confirming the appointment of Rev. Dr. R. Carl Frazier, Jr. as the Senior Pastor at FUMC Cary, upon retirement of Rev. Hamm at the end of June, 2010.  The SPPRC was introduced to Rev. Frazier and his wife Mary-Ellen, by our District Superintendent, Rev. Jon Strother, during a meeting at the church on Sunday, February 28.

 

Rev. Frazier currently serves as the Superintendent for the Elizabeth City District of the United Methodist Church.  His senior pastorates have included Saint Luke United Methodist Church – Sanford, Hay Street United Methodist ChurchFayetteville, and Saint Francis United Methodist Church – Cary.  He has served as a Delegate to the General Conference and Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference of the United Methodist Church, and currently serves on the United Methodist Publishing House Board of Directors.  He has also served as Chairperson for the Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry, President of the Conference Council on Finance and Administration, and on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.

 

Rev. Frazier is originally from Wilson, North Carolina, and attended Barton College (formerly Atlantic Christian) for his undergraduate studies.  He then obtained his Master in Divinity from Duke University, and Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary. 

 

Carl and his wife Mary-Ellen have two daughters, Elizabeth age 26, and Ellen age 21.   Mary-Ellen is employed as an elementary school teacher.
